Each year we try to improve Christmas for some of our local residents who find Christmas an especially difficult time
This year for the first time we decided to hand out supermarket vouchers rather than food parcels so that individuals can select items that suit their dietary needs
We collected money at local supermarkets (a big big thank you to Tesco, Sainsbury and Waitrose for their fantastic support) plus we opened up a Just Giving page – we collected in total £3,400 which allowed us to hand out 170 £20 vouchers to hopefully make Christmas a little bit brighter for some of our more needy residents
Here are 2 examples of the Thank You’s we have received
1 I am writing on behalf of Meeting Point, a club for over 50s, that meets weekly – to thank you so much for the Gift Voucher we have received. The committee have decided to use the money to help fund the festive tea we are holding after Christmas for our members. Thank you once again and we wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy and Healthy New Year.
2 Thank you Mr Ryan for the Gift Card. With no food here at home I can’t express enough how grateful I am knowing I can now go and purchase something to eat when I feel able to go out to the shop. Please send my apology to the Lady who called at my flat for leaving her stranded at my entrance door. I would have loved to have met her and invited her in for a cup of tea. Once again a big thank you and a very Merry Christmas and Happy new year to yourself and your family and your work comrades.
